Posters in Washington State Capitol claim gun laws are just like anti-gay discrimination. Just no.
Reports out of the justice department note that legally acquired and registered guns owned by private citizens are used in less than 1% of all shooting deaths in the US. Shooting deaths, in turn make up less than 10% of all deaths in the US. (Which is why I, a supporter of gun rights was fucking pissed at the closing of the gunshow loophole getting blocked)
We have the Right to Bear Arms; even the socially backwards, misogynistic and racist rich white men who founded this country felt it was important for voting citizens were to be allowed to own firearms to protect their homes and family from people who do not obey the law (including, but not limited to less morally upright people and the armed forces of government).
These posters are highly distasteful in how they present their message, but they are not wrong in the base idea of their message, which is twofold:
- Teaching conservative leaning moderates that the declaration of “All men are created equal” must apply to all members of mankind regardless of physical sex, gender identity and sexual preference (that last one the big one they’re pusing for here) is just as important as any rights granted by the Bill of Rights.
- Letting the more closed minded conservatives know that their fears of the slippery slope of eroding the Bill of Rights is not the goal of this organization that fights for marriage equality.
Distasteful Presentation? Sure I’ll give you that. But I rather like the people who created these posters for trying to be more inclusive between these two groups that have no reason not be at odds, but are often portrayed as such.

Chances are, if you’ve logged into tumblr within the past week you’ve noticed that there’s an awful lot of Pokemon splicing going on. I was particularly fond of the cute Koffing splices so I made plushies of Chanfing and Raifing *u*
